Unfortunately Ticki Torches no longer pass electrical code requirements
although they do offer a unique effect that is hard to match. Our
Landscape Architects develop outdoor lighting concepts that not only
provide safety enhancing even illumination but also create ambiance.
When to goal is to create a dramatic lighting effect it is important to
remember that it is not necessary to light everything and that there is
value in subtlety. It is the contrast of light and dark surfaces
that reveals texture not seen during the day. This contrast is
what makes night lighting so interesting.

When developing a lighting plan we can be very selective about what
we accentuate or hide in a landscape. For instance, lighting
structures we illuminate significant architectural features while
downplaying less desirable ones. With this control it is
possible to create different moods within a single space depending on
the time of day.
The type of fixture selected, its location in the landscape and the way
it is utilized determine the success of the lighting plan.
Manufactures have developed beautiful lighting fixtures that are
unique, sculptural and often powered by both low and line
voltages. Well chosen fixtures at the correct scale provide great
detail in landscapes even when not lit. This is especially true
for lamp posts, walkway lights, wall sconces and stanchion lights;
whereas when installing lights for effect such as up-lights and
moonlights, the fixture itself should be resoundingly understated.
